Bed Bath & Beyond’s latest restructuring efforts are sadly failing. As you know Bed, Bath & Beyond announced store closing last year and they also revamped their entire coupon and reward program. Funny enough a story about how their current efforts to remain relevant are failing came across my feed after I posted about being in a store that was looking rather sad. I stopped into my favorite location recently (it’s been a while since I’ve been to that store) to see what kind of fun foodie items and beauty they had. And the store was a tomb! They took out all the International food section, the beauty section was pretty sparse, and everything else was looking like they were either moving or closing up shop. I have a feeling after January they’ll be gone.

At the moment Bed Bath & Beyond is coming up woefully short in a debt exchange designed to give the company some financial breathing room. The company said that it would extend its debt exchange offer to December 19 from December 5.

According to reports Bed Bath & Beyond reported $168 million in losses due to the economic slowdown and inventory issues. We all have to remember Amazon also, contributes to much of the loss of brick-and-mortar stores like Bed Bath & Beyond. Bed Bath & Beyond has some harsh waters to navigate if they plan to remain relevant in the current economy. I’m not sure they’ll make it out alive.

Look out friend the eagle has landed at TJMaxx. Theheadlesscrow on Tiktok posted a recent video of Pat Mcgrath x Bridgerton at TJMaxx. Yup, Pat Mcgrath is at TJMaxx. The eyeshadow palettes are $25 and everything else including the gorgeous, stunning, brilliant blush palette is $20. I’m not surprised at all by this but I was surprised by how good a condition everything was at this girl’s TJMaxx! Because I swear my TJMaxx stores are gross. Everything is squeezed, swatched, opened, and sticky. Everything looked pristine at her location.

I haven’t personally been lucky finding any of these items at my local TJMaxx but that doesn’t mean they won’t be popping up. She literally just located them which means they could be headed to stores now. Again, I’m not terribly shocked by this as it seems like even luxury makeup goes to die at TJMaxx at some point. I do wonder if we’ll see a Pat Mcgrath x Bridgerton 3 though for Spring 2023. Is the contract over? Or will we get a new collection that will somehow make its way to TJMaxx at some point.

Some part of me feels a little sad that this is how luxury makeup has ended up but another part of me understands how excessive collections have been lately. People have lost interest in the endless round of releases and makeup releases aren’t quite as special as they used to be.

In my recent J Cat Sweet Tooth Shadow Palette post I had expressed how over eyeshadow palettes I was and how Tarte, Urban Decay, and Too Faced have been horrible about updating some of their core collection pieces. Dude, Amazonian Clay Blush really needs a revamp and reformulation. Don’t get me wrong here! I love those blushes! I have every single shade but come on…..! They’ve been around forever and Tarte has done nothing to update them! It would be so cool if they took a minute out of introducing an eyeshadow palette every hour and do some solid core collection updates! Let’s start with the blushes! I mean, we could totally use some warmer shades. I feel like pinks, berries, and roses dominate the collection. Not to mention 99.9% of the shades are matte in finish! I’d love some glow-y, shimmery shades! The shade Glisten is a MUST-HAVE! It’s one of the best shades they have available! I’d love to see more shades with that finish!

Pantone has revealed its Color of the Year for 2023 and its 18-1750 Viva Magenta, a brand-new color “brave and fearless, whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration.” The shade is categorized as part of the red family and is inspired by the tone of cochineal extract, one of the most special dyes historically used to color textiles, cosmetics, and food.

A statement released by Pantone’s Executive Director: “In this age of technology, we look to draw inspiration from nature and what is real. PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta descends from the red family and is inspired by the red of cochineal, one of the most precious dyes belonging to the natural dye family and one of the strongest and brightest the world has known.”

The shade has elements of raspberry and pink to my eyes but I could be incredibly wrong. Either way, it’s a bold, beautiful shade and if the makeup industry actually embraces it (it feels like makeup brands haven’t really done much with Pantone in the last few years) it will make a beautiful lipstick, blush, and even eyeshadow shade.
