I’d like to think I paved the way for many a Lush lover. I get so many e-mails a day since starting my blog about how people are rejoicing since discovering Lush on my blog. It warms my Grinch heart that people are busy discovering Lush. I’ve been a Lush lover for many a fine year and simply think it’s an outstanding brand.

I thought I’d take a moment out to point you in the direction of Lush’s sister brand B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful. I introduced you to B a year or so ago with a few posts here and there and even one about my collection of B perfumes. Up until now I can’t believe I’ve never once posted my stash of B cosmetics.

Yes, you read that right, cosmetics. Lush is indeed responsible for creating it’s own line of makeup under the B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful brand name. Think of B as Lush’s hipster sister. Created with a no animal testing policy and with plenty of “fresh” ingredients this makeup is all Lush!

Some folk love ’em, some hate ’em. Count me as a lover of B makeup. Although it expires fairly quickly (a year, sometimes two, three if you’re lucky) it’s one of the most unique brands I’ve had the pleasure of owning. Housed in bejeweled little pots much of the line brings quality and a bit of posh to the table. Most of my B was collected on various trips to London but you can order B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful product from it’s website which ships internationally.

The shadows are particularly wonderful little critters as they are pigmented as a MAC shadow and quite cute to boot (about the size of a US quarter). The line should appeal to Lush lovers as it’s a whimsical collection of interesting hippie makeup bits and bobs or if you’re just a fan of interesting little out of the way make up items the line will capture your fancy.

Let’s step into Summer for a second here. Can I tell you the life of a beauty blogger is so NOT fun. I hate that I can’t enjoy Winter without worrying about Spring or how I can’t just indulge in Summer makeup because I’m busy testing Fall….grrrrrrr!

So today let’s step back into Summer. After all we are in the heart of it right now aren’t we? It’s almost August and the sun is super bright today! Humidity is hitting my little city so hard and I’m smiling all the more for it as I’m tired of all the bloody rain New York’s been hit with lately.

Stepping into Summer reminds me I indulged in Guerlain Terracotta Blush & Sun. Oh Guerlain how you delight the Muse.

Guerlain manages to cover both the bronzing and the blush world by creating it’s Blush & Sun powder. Capturing the essence of a bronzer with a touch of sheer blush makes thee perfect go to powder for Summer. It’s a Summer must have in the Muse’s opinion.

The bronzer aspect of the product is ever so sheer so for all the bronzer dummies (like me!) out there or those nay sayers that hate bronzers (I used to be one of those!) this is the ideal solution for getting a kiss of the sun but still having the added benefits of a pinch of blush.

The product comes in three different shades all of which are very nice however the lightest shade, 01 Sun Light, is the best of the three in my opinion and should work well on light to medium skin tones. The shade is a golden peachy beige with a kiss of shimmer. The product works more like a blush than a bronzer which is what makes it so appealing however don’t let that fool you as it does give cheeks a sunny touch of color.

The finished look is probably one of the more natural ones I’ve come across. A sweep of this across your cheeks creates a very sunny, peachy look that not only wears like a blush but also manages to look as if you’re spent an hour at the beach and got a slash of color across your cheek bones. Very, very flattering.

Overall, if you’re scared silly of bronzers and aren’t tempted to try one out for size I’d say that Guerlain Terracotta Blush & Sun is the perfect product for you. A touch of the sun and a touch of blusher creates a super flattering look in this warm, humid weather!

The Muse has been around the color wheel a time or two. Thing is if you’re not into whitening, brightening, or evening out your skin tone you can safely skip this post. I happen to fall into the group of wanting to even out my face tone and make my skin brighter and whiter this is where a good color wheel comes into play.

Color wheels aka correctors are normally a circle compact that houses several shades of correcting concealers to fix a multitude of skin problems. A variety of companies make these correctors but not as many main stream or upscale brands have. They are pretty common in Asia particularly lilac primers which whiten and brighten the skin. Most commonly color wheels include a lilac shade, a green shade, beige shade, salmon or peach shade, and another neutral beige shade.

The idea of the color wheel is to use it to prep skin prior to regular foundation application or to use on it’s own. You’ll use the shades as follows, the lilac to erase dullness and brighten skin, the green shade on redness, the salmon and peach shades on top of a beige shade to conceal dark circles, and one or two of the beige shades to smooth out the entire canvas or to sculpt and contour.

The effect is flawless, even skin tone minus flaws.

The corrector palette out with her line is a pretty popular item which is one reason I indulged in it. I have any variety of color wheels that I use daily however all the hype surrounding this particular palette got be curious to try it myself.

It doesn’t quite live up to the hype however it’s an extremely good product. First off people talk about it like it’s life changing and honestly it either really is that good or I’m just immune to it’s amazingness since I’ve used tons of similar products like this before.

As described in my intro the palette is made up of 5 color correcting shades all used to conceal and correct different areas of the face. The palette is surprisingly not as moisturizing as similar palettes I’ve tried in the past. I’m quite shocked that I liked this formula as I normally prefer a bit of moisture to ease the blending process. The correctors are all rather hard and blending with them isn’t entirely easy due to this however I found I had more control of the product because of the hard texture. With a moisturizing cream it’s very easy to over do because you’re dipping and picking up a ton of product. The harder texture makes it a little more difficult to pick product up therefore eliminating the potential of picking up TOO much.

The best application technique with this palette and any color wheel palette is to do your entire face. This simply means to slap on all the shades in prime locations where you’ll need them and proceed to blend the product with a sponge, fingers, or a brush. You’re not going to want to conceal your eyes and proceed to follow up with the lilac primer to erase dullness. The point is to slap it all on in one go. Slap a little lilac on the side of your eyes, smear a bit of beige under your eyes and some peach on top, dab a little green on your nose and go to town blending all the colors in. The effect is more of a natural, flawless look.

You will notice that your skin shade may go down a tone so don’t freak out. Simply apply your foundation on top as normal and you’ll notice what a beautiful, working canvas you have for your makeup.

Lisa Watier Portfolio Face Corrector Palette isn’t the best corrector palette I’ve ever used but it’s a fairly good palette and does exactly what it promises. If you’re noticing dullness, redness, or dark circles do pick one of these up to erase all your woes in one go. A most excellent choice for creating a flawless face.
