It’s not beauty but hey, why not, let’s discuss the new Boston Market Rotisserie Chicken Nuggets! I wanted to review these because I’m a nuggie kind of girl! Nuggies are my comfort food! I hope you don’t mind the food reviews lately. I find them fun and a nice break from beauty sometimes.

But for now, let’s discuss these Boston Market Chicken Nuggets.

So, I happen to be a big fan of Chick-fil-A Grilled Nuggets…! There’s something terribly tasty about them when you drown them in Chick-Fil-A sauce am I right? I was intrigued when someone on Tiktok said hey, we’re getting Boston Market Chicken Nuggets as instantly I was like, “Oooo Chick-Fil-A dupe?

No.

They are not.

Oh my god, guys.

These are disgusting.

I headed over to my nearest Boston Market last night and I wasn’t particularly hopeful I’d find the new Chicken Nuggets but was delightfully surprised to see them available. They have two different versions of the nuggets both of which are rotisserie style and as per the brand they aren’t fried but prepared in the brand’s rotisserie oven. I got both the signature recipe nuggies and a small kid’s order of the spicy nuggets. It deserves to be mentioned I’m very much a spicy kind of girl but when I saw the spicy nuggets they looked kind of meh so I decided to just get a tiny order.

They offer four sauce choices with the nuggets which are Signature Sauce, Smoking Flame Sauce, BBQ Sauce, and Ranch Sauce. All the sauces but the ranch come in little clear containers. The ranch sauce is Ken’s ranch. I went with Ranch for my spicy nugs and Signature Sauce which I assumed would be like Chick-Fil-A sauce for my signature nugs (Bad choice! Tell ya more in a sec!).

I’ll say one good thing here and that’s the fact these look incredibly delicious. They don’t taste delicious in my opinion but they sure do look nice. They are bigger than Chick-Fil-A’s Grilled Chicken Nuggets and have a very plump, moist look to them. I was very excited to dig into them as the presentation is spot on.

The Signature Nuggets are incredibly salty and just taste really artificial. I felt like I was eating chicken grown in a lab. It just wasn’t a good taste to me. I can’t even begin to explain to you why I didn’t like them but they sort of squirted when you bit into them (yeah, a little too moist for me) and the saltiness was disturbing. I’ve had Boston Market’s regular chicken before and it’s quite good but these taste NOTHING like their normal Rotisserie Chicken. They just tasted like chunky, wet morsels of salt. I hate to say it but I failed to even get a proper chicken flavor from them.

I decided that maybe the Signature Sauce would help things along. So, I dipped my chicken nugget in and prepared to be wowed. This is a very thick sauce, very creamy, and very disgusting as well. I thought maybe they were going for a Chick-Fil-A dupe but I can testify this tastes nothing like it. It’s like they mixed mayo, ranch, and thousand islands dressing altogether. It’s absolutely horrible to my taste buds. It tasted too mayo-like to me. It was god awful. Thankfully, we keep Chick-Fil-A sauce well stocked in our house so, I was able to drown these nuggies in that which make them somewhat better to eat.

I was positive the Spicy Nuggets were going to redeem my poor experience with the Signature ones. But that didn’t happen….! First off, my Ken’s Ranch was awful. It was warm and tasted spoiled. That quickly went into the garbage. As for the nuggies they had a mild spiciness to them with a smoky hot sauce taste. I’m a later hater. I don’t like leftovers. Food just simply doesn’t taste the same when you warm it up a day later. Sorry, not sorry. And that’s what these tasted like. They had that weird refrigerator taste like you had them for dinner the night before and warmed them up in a microwave. They weren’t as salty as the Signature nugs but the taste was just as awful.

Overall, Boston Market Chicken Nuggets are a big, giant no for me.

I am hoping someone tried them! I need to discuss these with someone and make sure I’m not imagining how BAD they were.

It’s not beauty but let’s chat Aldi Rose Cones, shall we? I remember last year I made my boyfriend drive all over New York trying to locate these Aldi’s Rose Ice Cream Cones! They released around Mother’s Day and I could not locate them to save my life. I love pretty things. These were pretty. I needed them in my life!

But it wasn’t happening…!

We never did find them.

Until now!

Last week, someone on Tiktok was all “THE ALDI ROSE CONES ARE BACK!” and I hightailed it over to the local Aldi to look and low and behind not only was there the Strawberry & Cream Rose Bones but also, a new flavor, Chocolate Hazelnut & Vanilla Rose Cones.

I quickly snatched up two boxes of each flavor and ran quickly for the register in the fear someone would grab my treasure from me. Each box contains 4 contains for $3.49 which works out to around .87 cents a cone. Seemed a bargain to me.

Now, I should say I love Neapolitan Ice Cream but I don’t really like Strawberry Ice Cream alone. But since the strawberry cones had vanilla ice cream and a chocolate cone I figured they might just fall into the realms of Neapolitan. I got home and I instantly decided I needed to try both. There were no counting calories this day! I was all about inhaling these as fast as I could.

My favorite was surprisingly the Strawberries & Cream flavor. Each cone is shaped like a little rose! It’s adorable. The frosting, as I call it, is a light, fluffy consistency with a whipped text that reminds me of the icing off a Carvel Ice Cream (if you know, you know as I realize not everyone has a Carvel readily available! It’s very much a New York institution!) The “rose” is made up of this interesting ice cream frosting and has a light, not too sweet strawberry flavor. Under that you’ll find a nice, soft vanilla ice cream that has a delicious strawberry ribbon of jam running through it. Again, it’s not too sweet but has a perfectly balanced taste of vanilla and strawberry! The chocolate cone was crunchy and delicious and a nice compliment to the vanilla and strawberry ice cream which gave it that perfect Neapolitan taste. Of course, there’s a happy ending and the bottom of the cone contains a yummy dollop of chocolate.

Chocolate Hazelnut & Vanilla Rose Cone were just as delicious but not as flavorful as the strawberry ones. I didn’t get much hazelnut here! It’s just a regular chocolate/vanilla ice cream cone! Again, we have the same delicious soft, whipped frosting layer making up the rose with a bottom layer of delicious, soft ice cream! The cone is chocolate and also, includes that dollop of yummy, hard chocolate at the very tip as you put that last bite into your mouth. This flavor was a little uneventful compared to how interesting the Strawberries and Cream one was but still delicious nonetheless.

I felt like glutton getting two boxes of each flavor but honestly, they are so good, I don’t regret it at all!

I believe these are seasonal! If you can, HURRY to your local Aldi as I don’t think they’ll stick around!

If I learned nothing else from the pandemic it was how not to burn boiling water! My friends, I must brag and tell you I’ve become quite the little chef during lock down. I was very adult like several weeks ago when I purchased a Star Wars Instant Pot. What? It has little Baby Yodas all over it how could I resist? It actually goes with nothing in my kitchen though so it’s been confined to the butler’s pantry and comes out when I cook. I’m not convinced I’m an Instant Pot genie as of yet but I’m working on my skills. So far, I’ve made pasta in it and that turned out pretty good. My Italian mother stroked out when I told her this on Facetime but ya know, quick and easy is the order of the day sometimes.

But really, I took a few master classes during lock down and my cooking skills have improved. I started following this lady on Tiktok who has a Blackstone BBQ. I know, I know, freaking Tiktok made me buy it….but in all seriousness, she makes all these cool dinners on that BBQ. I made me really want one of those flat top grills but unfortunately at both our houses the BBQs are actually built into cabinets on the patio. It’s not really possible to just switch it out with a freestanding grill.

UNTIL NOW……………

Cue the dramatic music.

So, this lady on Tiktok has the full-size Blackstone which is basically just a big giant griddle. It’s really not a traditional BBQ grill at all. I do question the point of it sometimes because are you really getting the effects of a BBQ when you’re just cooking on a big old griddle? Regardless, I still wanted it for some odd reason. And now I can have it. She actually recommended a Blackstone E-Series 17″ Electric Tabletop Griddle. I was so upset because it was out of stock at every single evil empire within my area (and online). I popped my name into the alert me box and within an hour of doing so it came back into stock and I snagged it. It arrives today and I’m thinking tonight we rebel and have breakfast for dinner! I already grabbed all the ingredients for blueberry pancakes early this AM from Amazon Fresh.

I dunno how often I’m going to use this thing but I’m going to have fun finding out. I’m wondering if my dad might like it. It’s his b-day in a few weeks and I’m really struggling what to get him! He loves to cook and this seemed fun for him to make breakfast. My mom will likely be horrified by it but I think he’d really dig it!

Quite a few of you asked me how the new Dunkin Donuts Avo Toast tasted and if I liked it after I posted about it in my prior post earlier this week. Fear not! I’m here to give you the scoop!

I’m an expert at paying $18 and upwards for a fancy Avo Toast. I honestly don’t think we have Avo Toast in New York that costs less than $18 unless of course, you make it yourself. But typically the Avo Toast around here is an experience. It’ll be served on a thick, crusty loaf of bread and it’ll be topped with egg or other tasty vittles.

Dunkin Avo Toast is actually a much more affordable option at $3 bucks! They even went and put it in a special box so the avo isn’t spread all over the place.

What’s it taste like?

Well…

I guess this avo toast can be considered interesting? I mean, if you’re an avo connoisseur this ain’t it but if you’re wanting a really super fast breakfast or snack it might be a good option.

They use a creamy avocado spread. It’s really not chunky at all. I actually prefer a little more chunkiness to my own avocado spread. They mix the avocado with sea salt, black pepper and lemon juice to make the spread and it’s smeared onto a toasted sourdough bread and finally sprinkled with Everything But the Bagel Seasoning.

A year ago this would be a rather great way to grab breakfast and go here in Gotham. Slip it out of the box, take a bite while you run to the subway, or dash to work and you’re golden! It holds up well in your hand and doesn’t get all over the place. But with COVID times have changed and most people can’t eat and run the way they used to.

I’ve eaten it twice so far and each time the bread was barely toasted. The bread sort of looks like Rye Bread but has the strong tangy flavor of Sourdough. It’s firm enough to hold the avo without being soggy even though it’s barely toasted. It also manages to have a bit of a crunchiness despite it being very under toasted. Note to Dunkin: Toast the bread and add a bit more Everything But the Bagel!

I’m an avo toast snob so this is very, very basic for me and not something I’d likely buy on the daily! It’s ok but I think you can easily make it home and make it better for that matter but as a quick on the go breakfast it’s a good pick and super inexpensive.

But hey, it’s worth a try!
