I recently picked up Vichy Double Glow Peeling Mask ($20) because I loved the idea of a formula that not only acted as a mask which chemically exfoliated but also one that acted as a physical facial scrub too. Sounds interesting right? But that’s apparently what the Double Glow Peeling Mask is all about. It uses fruit acids to remove dead skin cell but also contains crushed, ultra fine volcanic rock to exfoliate skin.

I’m always a little skeptical about fruit enzymes acting as a chemical peel but products like Herbivore Brighten Pineapple Enzyme + Gemstone Instant Glow Mask and Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask have proved me wrong.

I always tell myself I should rely more on chemical style peels like Good Genes but I tend t revert back to physical ones. None the less, Vichy’s Double Glow Peeling Mask seem terribly intriguing because of it’s multitasking abilities.

Here’s my thoughts and review.

Vichy Double Glow Peeling Mask is actually one of three new masks that the brand introduced earlier this Spring. I purchased the 2.5 oz jar of this for $20 at Ulta and soon after that they released these single use packets of it for $3.50. I wildly recommend trying the $3.50 packet first because I wasn’t super impressed with it. Might as well try a small sample versus splurging a twenty and hating it yanno?

This is interesting but not interesting enough for me to want to repurchase it. I’ll use it all up for sure but I doubt I’ll consider purchasing it again.

I was slightly annoyed because this didn’t have an instructions when I purchased this. Nothing on the box explains how to use it. Not that you can’t look it up online but I was sitting tere with the jar in my hand in my bathroom rather to slather it on but had no idea how much to apply or how long to leave it on or whether I needed to use it on damp or dry skin. So, I had to close the jar, head to my office downstairs, and Google instructions. Maybe my box was just missing the directions but I thought I’d mention it anyway!

This is a gel-like consistency with a light fresh scent that you apply on dry skin and leave on for 5 minutes. I actually tried using it a variety of ways. First, as a thin layer and left on for five minutes. Another day, I tried using a more generous layer and again, left it on for five minutes. And finally I tried using a generous layer and leaving it on for ten minutes. After using it in a few different ways, I can safely say none of them really worked.

This is water-based facial mask that contains glycerin but there are a few items that might upset sensitive skin types such as silicone and citrus extracts. Not to mention it also contains alcohol which can dry skin out. It also apparently contains pumice but I’m not sure where exactly that comes into play but more on that later.

So, I’m always done with this. I’ve been using it once sometimes twice a week for about two months now. The first step is the slather it on and sit around for a while. I didn’t notice any burning or tingling during this time but keep in my mind that my skin is very resilient and doesn’t upset easily. It felt gentle to me. During the five minutes it didn’t set, harden, or tighten and thankfully, it didn’t drip down my neck either. After the five minutes are up I head to the sink to massage and scrub a little. Ok, so it does contain pumice but the pumice must be really, really, really, really fine because I honestly, do not feel this has a gritty or grainy texture. As a physical exfoliater it’s a big fan. The first time I applied it I thought that I was too generous with my application and the thickness made it difficult to remove and I didn’t feel any scrubbing action as I massaged and rinsed it off. The next few times I went thinner but I had the same issues. It’s such a pain to wash off plus again, no grittiness.

Softer, smother skin? Not really. It does make skin feel plush and plump after rinsing and thankfully, I didn’t notice any tightness considering it does contain alcohol. But my drier areas and the flakiness that my cheeks are prone to having was still very much still there after using the mask.

Mmmm, meh….

I think I missed the dual peel action here.

Vichy Double Glow Peeling Mask might be worth checking out if you’re a curious skincare junkie but I suggest trying the sample pack before indulging in a full jar. The ingredients aren’t anything to rave about and the double peeling they promise just doesn’t quite work out.

There are a slew of new facial masks launching at the drugstore for Spring 2017. Last year, we saw a bit of a trend developing when L’Oreal launched their mud masks! I’m still using the L’Oreal Pure-Clay Mask Exfoliate and Refine Pores, I kind of dig it even though I’m a sheet mask kind of girl!

Lately I’ve been multitasking a lot lately. Basically, my idea of multitasking is a little difference from the current trend you see. I’ve been using an exfoliating mask followed up with a hydrating sheet or cream mask directly after!

Apparently Vichy Purete Thermale Cleansing Micellar Oil combines elements of both a micellar water along with a cleansing oil to create their Cleansing Micellar Oil formula. Hmmm! It might sound gimmicky but all I know is it works like a champ to remove makeup without drying out my skin.

Loves it.

I’m not going to try to understand the technology behind combining a micellar water and a cleansing oil, I’m just going to enjoy it. Vichy Purete Thermale Cleansing Micellar Oil is an impressive formula that works great at removing regular and waterproof makeup in a step without leaving my skin feeling tight or dry.

Created with nourishing camellia oil this has the texture of a cleansing oil and can be used on a dry face. Apply two to three pumps on dry skin and slowly massage in to break down makeup. Use a little water to emulsify the formula! As you apply water it’ll break down and go milky on skin. At this point, you can rinse it full off and it’ll take away your day’s worth of makeup with it. The gentle formula does a fantastic job removing makeup without leaving skin oily or tight. My skin felt smooth and soft after use without the two sizes too small feeling that some cleansers give me.

I’m not drying to understand the micellar and cleansing oil cocktail they got going on here because for what it is worth this is a cleansing oil texture and formula in my eyes. But none the less, whatever it is, just know it does a damn fine job breaking down makeup, removing it, and does so without stripping skin.

Vichy ProEven Mineral BB Cream recently launched for Spring in two shades selections of Light and Medium. At $32.50 it is one of the more mid-range BB Creams you’ll see here in the US even though it is available at drugstores and Ulta.

One thing I personally love about BB Cream is how it brightens up my skin and eases dullness. It’s two of the deciding factors for me when reviewing BB Creams, “Does it brighten my skin up?” “Does it ease dullness?” These are important issues for me so I choose BB Creams that work to address these issues.

Although Vichy ProEven Mineral BB Cream isn’t as creamy as Korean BB Cream it still manages to address dullness and brightens up my face which makes it solid gold brilliance. A little more SPF, a creamy texture with a little more moisture and I’d definitely feel like it was near perfect.

Here’s a look!

ProEven is an excellent name for this BB Cream as that is exactly what it does. It evens out skin tone and perfects it creating the illusion of perfect skin.

Coverage is seamless once applied. Foundation and BB Cream products should be worn but not seen and Vichy ProEven Mineral BB Cream is one of those products that applies and looks seamless, second-skin-like even, so you aren’t left looking like you have anything on at all. Yet your skin will look almost airbrushed in appearance.

This eases dark spots and redness while concealing minor problem areas on skin and creating a beautiful finish on skin. With primer it’ll create a smooth appearance so both pores and fine lines are reduced. Supposedly within a four week period it refines the appearance of skin giving it a more radiant and even look but I’ve only been using it about two weeks so unsure about those claims.

Both the Light and Medium shades do run rather pale however, the Medium fit me quite well. It runs a little sheerer than a traditional BB Cream but provides medium coverage built up. I love the Medium shade as it reminds of Jadilla J’s BB Cream (Korean brand). It has an almost gray based with a pink almost lilac undertone. I’ve always found that gray BB Creams tend to brighten up skin wonderfully and indeed this shade eases my dullness and gives my skin a brighter look and appearance. I think the SPF 20 is disappointing but at least it provides some protection.

The finish is semi-matte and a tad on the dry side but doesn’t cling to drier areas. If you’re expecting a richer, creamier texture you might be disappointed. This is a thinner gel-like consistency with a semi-matte finish that oily skin users will appreciate. The wear time is excellent! Without setting powder and merely primer I can get twelve hours of wear without a touch up.

Overall, Vichy ProEven Mineral BB Cream proved an excellent product. It’s not quite a traditional BB Cream formula but it def comes close to one. The seamless coverage it provides is lightweight and flawless diffusing the look of dark spots, evening out my skin tone, and easing dullness easily while giving my skin a bright, flawless look. I think it’ll be a great pick IF you can find a good color match as the two shades do run a little lighter so not everyone can take advantage here.

Vichy launches a new BB Cream for Fall 2012.

Vichy ProEven Mineral BB Cream ($32.50) is available in Light and Medium shades promises 12 hour wear with 24 hours of foundation. The formula reduces the appearance of dark spots, pores, and fine lines while transforming skin in as little as four weeks by refining its texture, boosting radiance, and evening out skin tone overall.

I haven’t tried it as of yet but I am curious.
