Sometimes I forget how much I love Prescriptives! And when they launch eyeshadow palettes like this Nudes one for Fall 2014 I remember just how much I adore the brand!
For Fall 2014, the Prescriptives Nudes Palettes is a quad of four basic shades of natural color for eyes. This palette keeps things simple and fresh while making the natural eye look easy to achieve!
The Prescriptives Nudes Palettes ($50) includes shades:
Sad sigh I was disappointed it was $50 though! So the Nudes Palette might not be in my future unfortunately.
For those wanting it, it’s available now, at www.prescriptives.com.

I think I lost my way and forgot how much I adore Prescriptive! But no worries this Prescriptives Palm Springs Lip Trio will help me remember!
This trio contains 3 shades of Colorscope Lipcolor in sparkly, shimmer shades for Spring!
You get:
They come housed in a limited edition bag and are valued at $58.50 but get ’em now for $38 and free shipping at www.prescriptives.com.
I figure in this snow we can all use a little bit of the Palm Springs.

Spoilers ahead..
Christ! Walking Dead is getting so good! Carol and Tyresse hook up in the book so I do wonder if that’s where they are headed but poor Tyreese is clueless about Carol’s involvement in killing off Karen! Hey, she did us a favor because we need her on Teen Wolf at the moment to play mom to poor lost Stiles!
Either way I’m glad we are done with the Prison. Being stationary in the zombie apocalypse is boring! ACTIVATE SURVIVAL MODE!

]]>
If you’re wanting to keep your gifts on the lower end, say, mmmm $30 or under, this be the guide for you!
Jump!
I always think that gifts of this price range are good for casual friends (not besties of course) you don’t see to often, or maybe a teacher/professor you really like, or perhaps a distant relative who you’d like to impress with a nice gift but nothing too expensive. It all depends really on your budget but for $30 bucks, right now in this economy, you can get a nice gift for just about anyone really.
These are some of the Muse’s favorite gifts for $30 bucks or under.
Urban Decay Hall of Fame ($29)
Includes:
The Hall of Fame is a fav for me in the $30 buck range. Coming in just shy of $30 it contains mini essentials from Urban Decay such as gloss, mascara, lipstick, etc…plus it has a big old bottle of UD Primer Potion. It’s a good gift to introduce a friend to the line if they never tried anything from Urban Decay before or even to get hooked on my personal fav, the Primer Potion. Or if you already have a UD lover in your life she’ll be sure to love receiving not only a huge bottle of her fav primer but also cute little minis.
At $25 the Stila Lip Glaze Collection keeps a low down price but manages to give alot for a very little. With 8 shades of Lip Glaze to choose from you’ll be quite a hit with friends or family members who adore glosses. This one is lush and cheap.
Palette wise I’d say that the nicest in the $30 and under range would be the Urban Decay Show Pony Palette ($30) and the Too Faced French and Fabulous Palette ($28.50). Makeup lovers in your life will enjoy getting either one of these vibrant palettes particularly teens or twenty-somethings should enjoy the fresh, bold shades. Both are exceptional values for the price.
For the bath and body folks in your life check out Dylan’s Fridge Full of Sweets Gift Sets ($28). Each cute “fridge” is packed with gumballs (yes, the kind you can chew), a Dylan’s Candy Bar Re-Treat Body Smoothie Lotion and a Dylan’s Candy Bar Re-Treat Soda Pop Shower Gel.
For fabulous under $30’s check out Philosophy First Snow ($25) this one is lush for the price in my humblest as it includes a nice little box stocked with Philosophy Snow Shower Exfoliating Shower Gel, Philosophy Snow Body Pure Snow Shimmer Body Lotion, and Philosophy Snow Kiss Lip Shine. Keep it just at the $30 buck range with the Philosophy Celebrate! Bucket (A trio of Philosophy Shower Gels) or the Philosophy Cookie Exchange (a foursome of Philosophy Shower Gels).
Anyone who adores a lovely palette will be thrilled to receive last year’s Isadora Diamond Eye Shadow Palette in Millenium Star. Housed in an elegant mirrored compact and containing five shimmering shades of shadow for $21 the Muse counts it as a unique and beautiful gift (Available from Amazon.com)
Always feel like my best gifts given are from Lush. Friends and family are always surprised and delighted when I introduce them to the joys of Lush and with so MANY gifts to choose from that are already wrapped up pretty (and even include a 15% Off coupon inside) it’s easy to gift without the hassle of wrapping. My personal favs for $30 bucks and under (heck some are even under $20 bucks!) can be found below!
Lush Best Wishes Gift Set ($19.95)
Lush Christmas Cracker ($13.95)
For an extra special and unique gift check out Tokyo Milk Parfums ($28 Each), the fragrance lover in your life will love this discovery!
Give the gift of fun fragrances with fine offerings from Demeter all set at a price of $25 or under! Choose gift sets like Demeter Lollipop Duet ($25), Demeter Hershey’s Collection ($20), Demeter Virtual Cookie Jar ($24), and many, many others.
The MAC lovers in your life will be every so happy to find a MAC Lipglass & Lustreglass Set ($29.50) under the tree especially when it contains five glosses. The pretty box makes it easy for gifting and saving you cash on wrapping it up!
Prescriptives leaves us soon and any of your family and friends that might be mourning the line will be ever so happy if you gifted them with a Prescriptives Gift Set. All are priced at $29.50 to keep you well within your $30 buck range!
NYX offers massive palettes to tis the season at prices ranging from $25 to $30. Check out the NYX Makeup Artist Kit and the NYX Eye Shadow Palette for starters!
Pop Cabaret Bouquet Palette ($29.50) is an elegant little palette for gifting or getting.
Benefit Powderazzi ($30) is the perfect way to introduce friends to some of Benefit’s best powders and blushes.
Korres keeps me under my $30 range with crazy cool finds such as the Korres Sugar Plum Collection ($29.50), Korres Delights Your Lips Collection ($26.50), and Korres Little Travel Value Set ($22).
And that’s all we have time for today folks! Let me know what your fav gifts are for under $30 bucks or if you snagged any of the above for your friends or family (or maybe yourself wink, wink, nudge, nudge!).

]]>Stepping up Holiday with an array of color gift sets, plus the new Holiday Cheek and Eye Palette, and now a full color collection, Prescriptives is going out with a bang.
Check out some of Prescriptives Lustre Holiday Color Collection after the jump!
Prescriptives Lustre Holiday Color consists of two new eye palettes, highlighting powder, lipsticks, and glosses. As always Prescriptives caters to both those who enjoy warmer or cooler shades. I’m leaning towards loving the warmer selection of shades as that’s what I tested out and I’m also on this brown shadow kick lately.
Prescriptives Warm Lustre Baked Eye Color Quad is a quad of baked shadows with a subtle shimmer finish that compliment my brown eyes beautifully. The shades include a creamy white, brown, copper, and brass. The shadows aren’t heavily pigmented so you can get more of a softer look, the lack of heavy pigmentation actually makes them easier to work with, blend, etc….you can of course build color up quite easily and create a softer or dramatic look. The quad is a dream come true for me because as I said I’m a bit of a brown kick lately. I wouldn’t call them festive but they fall into the realms of elegant.
Prescriptives Lustre Shimmer Cheek Color is perfect for a soft focus dash of color on cheeks. It has a subtle shimmer finish and nice soft, silky formula that’s easy to blend. The warm version is a peachy brown base which gives a golden glow to my cheeks and face.
Prescriptives Moonbeam Reflective in Rose Gold is a warm rosy golden peach which pairs up beautifully well with the warm cheek color and eye palette. The texture is beautifully pigmented and easy to layer on with a brush applicator (hate sponges). It wears incredibly long on my lips and creates a beautiful shimmery reflection.
Overall, I’m quite partial to this collection at the moment. The complete look is more Fall than Holiday but it’s still ideal for evenings out when you aren’t up for the Holiday norm of golds and silvers. Now that I’ve tried the warmer shades I think I’ll head in and peek at the cooler as I really loved the eye quad in particularly and absolutely adored the gloss.
I’m going to say this is a Muse Approval for me. The look is very flattering with my coloring. Likey alot. Worthy of a haul.
Anyone have plans to snag any of this?

With the news of Prescriptives closing down many a fan were worried about about where there beloved Prescriptives Calyx would end up. This happens to be a fragrance the Muse recently discovered and loved.
She was ever so delighted to hear that Calyx is alive and well even if Prescriptives won’t be around much longer the much beloved fragrance is here to stay.
“The Prescriptives fragrance Calyx, which is a favorite among consumers, will continue to be distributed through Aramis and Designer Fragrances and sold at the fragrance bar in select fine department stores and online beginning February 1st….”
Ahhh everyone sigh in relief with me….!

“In a long-anticipated move, the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc. said Thursday it will shut down wholesale distribution of its 30-year-old Prescriptives brand by Jan. 31. Products will continue to be available through the brand’s Web site for consumers needing replenishment, until supplies run out.
“A core component of the Estée Lauder Companies’ corporate strategy is to evaluate, and where possible, turn around underperforming brands with the goal of improving return on investment. After a thorough analysis of the Prescriptives brand, management concluded that the brand’s long-term business model is no longer viable given the current market environment. We believe that the difficult decision relating to Prescriptives will allow us to redirect our resources to key strategic imperatives where we see the highest growth potential,” said Freda.
Whoa….just whoa….
This is unbelievable news. I realize Prescriptives doesn’t have as big a cult following as many other brands but it’s surreal that they are going to close it down completely.
I guess we could have seen this coming since Prescriptives pulled out of Asia not too long ago when it was doing fairly well abroad. Quite an interesting development and honestly even after shutting down Asian counters I really couldn’t foresee this.
I’m quite upset as I really do love the brand as they have some fun LE released.
R.I.P Prescriptives.
We all love you.

]]>The post Prescriptives Comfort Cream Review appeared first on Musings of a Muse.
]]>I sure did you miss each and everyone of you. Well, Musings is back under control once again yay! She’s not too pretty at the moment but I am working on that so excuse the dust while everything settles.
But enough about that as you’re probably missing reviews and babblings about make up aren’t you?
Today the Muse keeps you in the know with a brand new soothing moisturizer for those that are a bit on the sensitive side.
Jump ahead to read more about Prescriptives Comfort Cream.
The Muse happens to have bulletproof skin. You can slap just about anything on this old skin and it won’t break out or go crazy. On occasion it’s been known to break out here and there but honestly that isn’t ever from anything I’ve used in regards to lotions or potions. Why am I telling you all this? Because a sensitive moisturizing cream is the least of my worries and not something I really need in my life.
However, if you’re sensitive you’ll rejoice that Prescriptives Comfort Cream is soothing relief for your skin. As for the Muse she’s enjoying the fact that she can get the most of this because it’s actually a hydrating cream for my face even if I am sporting a bulletproof vest!
Prescriptives Comfort Cream has been around a bit but it’s recently been re-formulated to add more soothing and calming ingredients to the mix of things. It’s suitable for all sensitive skin types even those suffering from Rosacea. It soothes and calms skin while providing intensive moisturizing. It contains algae extracts which supposedly relieve irritated skin that tends to dry and dred. Over time, it also promises to repair your skin.
As I said I don’t have sensitive skin so I can’t fully test this out but it does make a heap of promises for soothing redness, irritation, even blotchiness which are quite common for those that are very fair in tone. I can say that the cream is quite rich and absorbs easily. The formula is dreamy although I probably wouldn’t use it during a humid day as it could prove to rich for me. The formula comes in Comfort Cream Day and Night with reasonable prices of $39.50 and $45.
Overall, if you’re seeking a new moisturizer for your sensitive skin this could be something to take a peep at on your next trip the the Prescriptives counter.

Prescriptives Well-Suited Eye Color Compacts in Warm, Neutral, and Cool ($40) project a chic, sophisticated business look with five strips of contrasting shadow in a slime line case.

I’m looking forward to this collection as I’m enjoying all the tweed browns and shades of olive green I’m seeing as of late. It really screams Fall to me.

Been a while since I mused concealers hasn’t it? Might as well start the day right with Prescriptives Camouflage Cream Concealer. Let’s see what this is all about. This particularly concealer has just about everything I look for in a concealer lately. A nice creamy formula, great pigmentation, a nice hygienic squeeze tube, indeed all good traits.

Although it manages to have a decent creamy formula and good pigmentation the fact that it settles into my fine lines so quickly makes it a deal breaker for me. I think if my eyes were a bit younger I’d probably make better use of this but since my eyes are growing older I need something that doesn’t crease or cake.
This one I sadly didn’t love. Decent enough but definitely not a love.
Anyone a fan?
