Hey Freeman fans there are two new facial masks in the works this Summer. Freeman Pore Cleansing Volcanic Ash Peel-Off Mask and Freeman Hydrating Catus & Cloudberry Water Gel Mask are winging their way to drugstores this Summer and are already for purchase now at Ulta.com for $4.29 each.
I have to admit I really like Freeman Masks. Their cheap and remind me of being a teenager and having a Friday night sleep over when we all did face masks, painted our nails, and stayed up all night even though they don’t have the best ingredients in the world at times!
One of my fav formulas is the Freeman Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask which reminds me of the MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator which has made me curious to try out the new Freeman Pore Cleansing Volcanic Ash Peel-Off Mask which is a peel off mask that lifts away dirt, oil, and grime from pores. I don’t really have visible pores hmmm! Think it’ll work for me?

Well, the Freeman Hydrating Catus & Cloudberry Water Gel Mask is probably a better pick for me
This one is a hydrating formula that plumps and hydrates skin leaving a healthy glow behind!

Freeman Beauty Infusion Cleansing Clay Mask with Charcoal + Probiotics ($2.99) is yet another new facial mask that launched in the new Freeman Beauty Infusion Collection. This is available as a full-size for $7.99 or you can get a small packet for $2.99.
I had the full-size in my cart recently and I was so happy that at the last minute I discovered they had try before you buy packets for $2.99 each as I disliked the mask and felt quite happy I only purchased a small envelope for $3 versus being stuck with an entire tube of it. Granted $3 bucks isn’t exactly cheap since the larger size is 4 oz and for $8 bucks versus the smaller envelope that contains about one (if you’re being generous) to two uses. But for me it was worth it because at least I didn’t have yet another jar or tube of something or another hanging out in my beauty closet that wasn’t getting any love.
Here’s some thoughts on the Freeman Beauty Infusion Cleansing Clay Mask with Charcoal + Probiotics formula.
Freeman Beauty Infusion Cleansing Clay Mask with Charcoal + Probiotics apparently is a serum-infuse clay mask. It uses charcoal to draw out oil and dirt to leave skin super cleansed. I liked the idea of perhaps using this once a week just to draw the gunk out of my skin and leaving it looking squeaky clean. I don’t really have huge visible pores (only on my nose) so, I wasn’t sure if this would work for me but I was all up for drying in the hopes it would ease dullness.
It’s a dark gray mask which you can apply all over your face and allow to try for 10 to 20 minutes. The texture is super creamy and it does have a very light fresh scent. I sat around with for about 30 minutes as I applied quite a bit of it so it stayed “wet” for a little over 20 minutes. During the setting time it does dry and tighten every so slightly. It isn’t one of those uncomfortable masks that tightens and cracks. The dry down was comfortable and I didn’t feel like it was sucking moisture from my skin.

I would highly suggest jumping in the shower to remove it. I removed it at my sink and made a big mess. It got everywhere and I was left cleaning up a rather big ring of black around my sink after. It removed easily enough from my vanity and sink but really who wants to spend time washing the entire sink down after masking you know? The removal process isn’t fast as it takes a little time to get this entirely off your face but it does break down easily so you aren’t harshly scrubbing your skin to remove it.
Why didn’t I like it?
Well, it didn’t leave me overly tight after using it although, there was some general dryness after use. But really, most importantly, I didn’t see visible results. My skin didn’t feel cleaner, it didn’t look cleaner, and my dullness was still there. I was actually just hoping for a squeaky clean kind of feel and maybe even see that in my complexion. I divided the mask up into two uses since there is a generous amount inside the envelope. The little pouch didn’t re-seal so placing it in a ziploc baggie will keep it fresh.
Mind you, after two uses it is probably hard to see results but honestly, I wasn’t wowed by the experience and probably wouldn’t repurchase this since it left me a tad bit dry after use.
Meh.

Freeman Beauty Infusion Manuka Honey + Collagen Hydrating Sheet Mask ($3.29) is one of several new sheet masks the brand introduced that are popping up now in drugstores. Everyone already knows how passion and obsessed I am with Asian Sheet Masks however, I’ve had pretty crummy experiences with the ones that have launched here in the states. I was particularly wary of trying out the Freeman Beauty Infusion Sheet Mask Collection due to my experience with their earlier sheet mask releases like the Feeling Beautiful Rose Brightening Facial Paper Mask which made me crazy itchy.
But I decided to give Freeman a second chance in the hopes they might impress me this go round.
The Freeman Beauty Infusion Sheet Mask Collection is pretty high-end looking and feeling. The packaging design is a little more “serious” looking for lack of a better word compared to many of the brand’s other colorful offerings that typically contain images of fruits and such. It’s a pretty basic and “I’m all business” packaging.
There are several formulas available in mask and you can purchase them either in a sheet or a wash off cream. Each sheet mask is apparently infused with serum as well as beauty boosters such as collagen, Vitamin C, peptides, and more.
If you’ve never, ever in your beauty loving life tried a facial sheet mask this launch might have you singing out in praise and joy. However, if you’re very much familiar with sheet masks especially Asian ones there’s room for plenty of disappointment.
I choose the Manuka Honey + Collagen formula which apparently firms and hydrates skin. The mask has slots for your eyes, lips, and nose and you’ll apply it directly to skin and wait for 10 to 20 minutes before removing and patting excess essence into your skin (don’t wash your face after using the mask).

The sheet mask is made out of a thicker cotton fiber which I instantly hated as I prefer a thinner mask as in my experience the essence is absorbed a lot easier when you have a thinner mask on your face. I applied it and it fit the contours of my face well without tearing during the wear or sliding around. It was saturated well enough so I didn’t have any dripping down my neck during the wear. I do wish it had a bit more essence in all honesty but I partially blame the thickness of the mask as it absorbs a lot of the essence into the material leaving very little on your face.
I wore it for 25 minutes while I watched Last Man On Earth which was hysterical, can’t believe they killed Jack Black within seconds of him uttering a few words. After I removed it I didn’t feel like it made any major difference in my skin. It provided the barest amount of moisture and I noticed no firming.
Meh.
Call me a snob but I continue to prefer the benefits and greater selection of Asian Sheet Masks compared to the mediocre releases we get here in the US.
Freeman Beauty Infusion Manuka Honey + Collagen Hydrating Sheet Mask might be groundbreaking for someone who never experienced the joys of a truly great sheet mask but for those that have? Well, you’ll be disappointed.

Freeman Honeydew & Chamomile Sleeping Mask is one of the only sleeping masks you’ll likely find in a US drugstore and also one of the few available in the US market. Sleeping masks and sleep packs are a common staple in Asian skincare but it isn’t a trend that caught on here in the US as of yet. And you know me, I love seeing how the Asian beauty market influences our own so, when someone recently suggested I check this sleeping mask out I was quick to agree!
Honeydew & Chamomile Sleeping Mask will set you back a mere $4 and is a great little mask for hydrating your skin over night!
Here’s how it works!
We all know water is a very important staple in our diets. It’s not only good for you but very good for your skin. But aside from drinking those 8 glasses of water that everyone is telling you about you should also inject some good hydrating skincare into your diet. I tend to overly hydrate my drier skin but honestly, I recommend moisture for everyone as part of your nightly routine. The more hydrated you keep your skin, the younger you’ll look.
Sleeping masks are a great way to get your skin in shape. One of my favorites is Philosophy Back to Nurture Deeply Replenishing Beauty Sleep Mask but if you’re on a budget this Freeman one is a nice pick!
The one thing everyone is concerned about whenever I review sleeping masks would be, “Am I going to make a mess of my pillow case and sheets?” What people don’t realize is sleeping masks typically absorb as quickly as a moisturizer. Yes, you apply them at night and yes, you rinse them off in the morning but they don’t remain on top of your skin! They absorb fully once applied! So, no mess!
Freeman’s formula is a super creamy and quick to absorb formula that contains jojoba oil as well as amino acids and coconut oil. It does, in fact, smell like delicious honeydew melon! It also contains Dimethicone to smooth skin! This is worth a mention if you’re sensitive to silicones in your skincare. I experienced no issues personally with the silicones and I didn’t feel it made the product feel unusual or weird on my skin. It actually feels like a heavier body lotion but for my face. In the morning, I just hop in the shower and rinse the mask away! It leaves my skin quite nicely hydrated in the AM and super smooth!
Do like!
If you need a little more moisture in your skincare diet, this Freeman Honeydew & Chamomile Sleeping Mask is a good way to get it.

Freeman Apple Cider Vinegar 4-in-1 Foaming Clay Mask, Scrub, & Toner here to save your dry skin day on the cheap. For $4 bucks or less this little scrub is well worth picking to slough away flaky, dull skin and get it glowing for Summer!
I can’t exfoliate often because it actually causes more damage than go but once a week I give myself a nice good scrub down. One of my top favorites in the facial exfoliating world is cheap as chips, Freeman Apple Cider Vinegar 4-in-1 Foaming Clay! I love this stuff. It quite reminds me in texture of the more expensive Philosophy The Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash at a way cheaper price tag.
This formula is a thick and creamy with tiny little exfoliating grains that resemble salt. I’m always slightly worried when it comes to creamier exfoliating products as many times to creaminess of the formula interferes with the exfoliating grains and they feel like they are barely doing anything as you scrub. Not the case with this formula at all! Although creamy it’s still harsh enough to give a nice, deep exfoliation without being too rough! I went my face, squeeze a dollop into my hands, and gently massage on my skin for several minutes. It also works great if you spend some extra time around your nose if you have blackheads around this area as it’ll loosen them up for a nose strip application after. It does have a fresh apple fragrance that may or may not be an issue for sensitive users.

After scrubbing for several minutes I rinse with cool water and the cream breaks down into a foam and acts as a cleanser to remove dirt and oil! Done! I’m pretty lucky as this is one of the few scrubs that doesn’t make my skin feel tight or dry after using it. It’s quite a lovely formula that works well to resurface my skin. After I typically apply a good hydrating sheet mask and follow up with my nighty skin care. It’s also great for in shower use in the morning! Or you can even use it as a mask but I prefer just using it as a facial scrub.
At this price you can’t beat the glowing, smoother skin it provides.
Loves it!

I’m positive AC is killing my skin as I’m currently pretty dry and tight. I decided to try out something new in the ways of exfoliating scrubs. Freeman Key Lime Face Scrub which sounds good enough to eat but please don’t do that. I’m positive if we ingest it there could potential issues. Same goes for eating lipstick, I really want to but I wouldn’t recommend it! I ate an entire tube of cherry Chapstick when I was a child and can’t recall having too many averse effects but I’m hoping my stomach is now lined with a pleasantly moisturizing barrier.
But yeah, my Chapstick eating binge is neither here nor there. Let’s chat Freeman Key Lime Face Scrub.
Freeman Key Lime Face Scrub is cheap as day old chips at around $3.75 at places like Walmart, Ulta, Amazon, and other drugstores.

Technically speaking this doesn’t smell like key lime pie. Wouldn’t that be rather cool? I could deal with key lime pie smelling facial scrub! This contains tiny grains of pumice to gently exfoliate skin. The base is a thicker, green gel which has tiny granules of pumice suspended in it. It has a subtle lime fragrance that disappears fairly quickly. I like this for days I don’t need a super harsh scrub. It’s quite gentle on my drier skin and sloughs away dry skin cells easily. It does leave my skin a bit tight after so, moisturizer is key after using it!
You may have heard me say before that I prefer grainy scrubs but this is actually a great little scrub that smooths, softens, and scrubs away drier areas easily.

Freeman has a new collection of Feeling Beautiful Facial Paper Masks available one of which I tried a few weeks ago in the the Beautiful Rose Brightening formula.
Freeman Feeling Beautiful Rose Brightening Facial Paper Mask ($1.99) contains rose extract and a brightening Vitamin C that aids dull skin to look brighter. It also includes Lactic and Glycolic alpha hydroxy acids to exfoliate and reveal smoother skin with White Tea and Licorice antioxidants help reduce age spots for more even-toned skin.
Considering I have drier skin this sounded like the perfect mask for me!
Freeman is an great source of skincare products (particularly facial masks) that are excellent, inexpensive picks that produce great results. Some of my own favorites include the brilliant Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask which is a cheaper dupe of MAC’s own Volcanic Ash Mask.
I haven’t had a ton of success with the Freeman Feeling Beautiful Facial Sheet Masks as of yet..I tried the Blue Agave which worked ok and also the Starfruit formula but that was a bit of a miss as it irritated my skin a bit. It’s highly unusual for anything to irritate me as my skin isn’t really sensitive in the least however, Freeman Feeling Beautiful Rose Brightening Facial Paper Mask also caused a bit of chaos when I tried it!
They really do mean paper mask….this is an unusual fiber they used to create the mask that’s thinner than I’m used to from Asian masks. It also has a slightly scratchy feel and isn’t as saturated as Asian Sheet Masks are.
I will say at under $2 this is a fantastic budget pick….! Freeman can easily corner the drugstore market here but just needs to improve on the formulas and fibers used to create the mask!
You can place the mask over your face for 10 to 20 minutes. It has cut outs for your eyes, mouth, and a slight slit for your nose. It has a wet feel and adheres easily to skin.
After wearing it for a few minutes I started to feel a little tingle but continued on for 20 minutes. After removing and pressing the essence into my skin by laying my palms against my face I felt an odd tickling sensation. This turned into an itchy feel quickly…it felt like I had some sort of allergic reaction to the mask and broke into an itchy rash feeling. Thankfully my skin didn’t break out or get red but it did itch for several minutes after wearing the mask.

Freeman has the potential to create some good masks here but the formulas need work…! They aren’t giving me the results I get from Asian Sheet Masks and the odd allergic reactions that keep popping up for me are apparently shared by many after I read a few reviews.
If you do try it just be careful! Especially sensitive skin types.

]]>
Freeman Star Fruit Purifying Facial Paper Mask ($1.99) is one of three new facial sheet masks that were recently introduced to the permanent line of Freeman Skincare products. You might recall I already reviewed the Blue Agave formula of these masks.
Although the Star Fruit formula isn’t for my skin type I decided to give it a whirl anyway and give you a few thoughts about it.
The Freeman Star Fruit Purifying Facial Paper Mask is for more stressed out skin types that need soothing. Breakouts, irritations, redness, this mask is formulated to calm skin with Lavender and Niacinamide to help balance out oil production and tea tree to prevent further breakouts. It also contains Witch Hazel which helps to refresh skin and reduce the appearance of pores.
One of my issues with the original mask I tried is I didn’t like the fiber the mask was created with. It’s paper thin and has a bit of a scratchy feel. I find these sheet masks aren’t as saturated with essence as Asian sheet masks nor are they as soft to wear.
Considering the market for sheet masks in drugstores is virtually nonexistent Freeman has a fairly good market niche they can peg especially at the very budget friendly price of a mere $2 a mask. However, the masks need a slight improvement in the fiber used and the amount of product they contain to make for a good pick.
The mask is meant to be placed over your face and worn for 10-20 minutes. It has cut outs for your eyes, mouth, and a slight slit for your nose. Star Fruit apparently aids in preventing acne and oil skin. I had a bit of excess oil when trying it a few weeks ago as I tend to get a little more oily in the Summer months.

The mask was actually a bit irritating for me and made me itchy. This is highly unusual for me as my skin is bulletproof! I rarely get flare ups or break outs from new skincare products. It tingled slightly and after using it my lower neck felt a bit itchy where the essence had dribbled down slightly.
Thankfully I didn’t break out but I did experience weird itchiness. I definitely tightens up skin after use so I wouldn’t recommend it for those with combo or drier skin as after use your skin will feel tighter and stripped of oil.
Overall, Freeman Purifying Facial Paper Mask are shaping up nicely but they need a bit of work to gain my full approval…..! These formulas aren’t quite working out for me and not delivering the results I get using Asian sheet masks. A little reformatting on the fiber used when creating the mask and a bit more essence might solve the problem and make them a ready pick for those who can’t readily find sheet masks in their area.

Freeman Blue Agave Hydrating Facial Paper Mask ($1.99) is one several new sheet facial masks launching at drugstores this Fall (check your local drugstore it might just already be available). You know how crazed I am about Asian Sheet Masks so it’s rather delightful that a budget friendly brand like Freeman has their own version of a facial sheet mask available now as let’s face it the US market is sorely lacking in this department.
The Freeman Blue Agave Hydrating Facial Paper Mask contains soothing Blue Agave to soften drier skin as well as hydrating Hyaluronic Acid to retain that moisture.
Let’s take a look!
I’m a huge fan of some of Freeman’s offering! I probably couldn’t leave without their Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask. So of course the idea they created facial sheet masks had me hyped.
Freeman Blue Agave Hydrating Facial Paper Mask is one of a few different formulas they recently introduced to their general collection for drier skin types. Like any good facial sheet mask this is saturated with essence that contains Blue Agave as well as Hyaluronic Acid to soften skin, hydrate it, and help to retain that moisture. The masks are made from a thinner cotton fiber and have slits for your nose, lips, and mouth. The mask fit is fairly good and it adheres to my face quite nicely. I had an issue with the thinner fiber they used to create it though as it felt a bit scratchy on my face and not nearly as soft as others sheet masks I use.

You’re meant to wear the mask for five to ten minutes and after use you gently press your palms against your face to allow any excess essence/serum to absorb into your skin. These aren’t terribly saturated with serum so they aren’t as wet as Asian masks. It left my face a little sticky at first but dried down leaving my skin soft but not as hydrated as I would want, my drier skin needs as much moisture as I can provide.
The deal breaker for me was the lack of essence per a sheet and the scratchiness of the fiber they used to create the mask. I think I’m a little spoiled when it comes to sheet masks so I def expect more from sheet masks than this delivered.
On the upside I really love that Freeman has tapped the facial sheet market and I’m looking forward to seeing where they go from here with these….! I haven’t yet tried the other masks they offer so I’m looking forward to doing so and seeing if those formulas are more promising. Considering sheet masks, especially affordable ones, aren’t readily available in drugstores this is a rather exciting venture for Freeman! Hopefully they improve a little on the actual fiber they use to create the masks in the future!

Freeman has some new masks to try for Spring one of which is the new Golden Grain Facial Brightening Mask. I recently reviewed the new Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask for you which I thought was wicked so I’m curious about this Golden Grain formula.
For $3.99, it’s worth a try! Gotta love Freeman’s awesome masks at such cheap prices!
Freeman Beauty Golden Grain Facial Brightening Mask contains natural golden grain which help to moisturize skin and create a dewy smooth finish. The mask also contains Vitamin C to aid with dark spots while firming and brightening. It’s supposed to be a great pick for drier, dehydrated skin (hey, that’s me!).
As with all Freeman Masks they suggest a generous application left on for 5 to 10 minutes before rinsing.
Think I’ll be trying this one soon!

With Spring here and Winter kinda behind us I’ve been using Freeman Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask to whisk away dry, flaky skin.
Dude, have I ever lead you wrong? You seriously need to try this stuff. As a hardcore fan of Lush Dark Angels and Coalface and of course, MAC Volcanic Ash I was all about it as soon as I heard “Charcoal”. Seriously, my little beauty radar begins to bleep whenever I hear charcoal. It’s been programed to do so thanks to Lush who turned me onto the joys of charcoal in my skincare!
Might sound weird but it is absolutely thee awesome.
Take a peek!
All honesty if you’re sensitive or have redness on your face I wouldn’t really recommend Freeman Charcoal & Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask as it is a harsher scrub.
Those with drier skin, flaky, patchy areas, and those looking to get their glow back due to dullness and dry skin THIS is a god sent plus it costs next to nothing at $3.99!
This is a sugar mask and scrub that helps to absorb excess oil whole exfoliating skin. I’d recommend it once a week but not more than this if you have drier skin. If you’re oily you could possibly get away with it twice a week.
To use it simply apply a thick layer over your face and leave on 5 to 7 minutes. After that simply massage it into your skin and rinse with lukewarm water. You can skip the mask part if you want and head in straight to the scrubbing action. Whichever way you choose to use it I promise it’ll get your skin glowing!

It has a fresh cucumber scent and a thick, grainy black formula. It’s a sugar scrub however, it is fairly grainy and harsh. It’s one of the few facial scrubs I own that doesn’t overly dry out my skin and does double duty at attacking dry skin leaving it SUPER smooth, soft, and refined.
If you like scrubs like St Ives Apricot Scrub it’s a given you’ll enjoy the texture of this.
Overall, at this price you can’t beat the results. It leaves my skin super soft and rids me of my patchy cheeks and dullness restoring a glow to my face and allowing my moisturizer and other skincare products to apply easily.
LOVE this stuff.

Anyone a lover of peel off facial masks…
TMI moment.
I really dig ’em because I like peeling stuff. Skin, scabs, whatever you got, I’ll peel it.
So honestly a peeling mask is like heaven for me. I go into nirvana mode when I’m presented with a large scale of peeling action like the one I can get from a facial mask.
w00t!
But ok…’nuff ’bout peeling now. Freeman Beauty Superfruits Revealing Peel Off Facial Mask is good for stuff other than peeling!
Jump!
What is it?
A super duper fabulous beauty budget ($3.99 yo!) peel off faciak mask that has a mega 8 complex which combines eight super fruits such as goji, acai, mango, cranberry, and blueberry. These super fruits aid in detoxifying stressed out skin and going to work brightening it up.
The Good….
As with most peel of facial masks this is a heavier, sticky gel formula. This has the consistency of honey as it has quite a good deal of tack and stick. You simply smear it on a freshly cleansed face and sit around for 5 to 10 minutes until it begins to harden up. After that, if you’re like me this is the good part, you can peel it gently away. It leaves behind brighter, healthier looking skin!
The mask has a slightly fruity scent but you can’t really pin point the exact fruit…it’s sorta of a clean fruit smell. The gel is comfortable to wear in my opinion and dries down quite quickly. It peels off in a snap so you aren’t struggling to remove this. It draws out dirt, oil, and just leaves behind fresher looking skin.

The Bad….
Nothing bad to say about it.
Who Might Like It?
Who Might Not Like It?
Final Thoughts…
For the price, I’m all on it. It’s a nice way to sit back and relax for a second and an even nicer way to remove left over oil and dirt that your cleanser may have missed. It brightens your face up however the effect is temporary. I like using it after I’ve cleansed my face for the night as it makes the application of my night cream so much easier plus I wake up with glowing skin.
Nice stuff.
Can’t really beat that $3.99 price tag!

My adventures in beauty budget recently led me to the new Freeman beauty SuperFruits Collection! What is it?
A gentle gel cleanser to whisk away dirt, oil, and makeup that’s enriched with a mega 8 complex that combines eight different superfruits such as goji, acai, mango, cranberry, and blueberry!
The Good…
Yo, $3.99! Super deal right? This is a gel cleanser that has a fresh scent (damn, I’m kinda wishing it smelled fruity, that would make my day). It doesn’t sud or lather up so don’t expect foaming action from this. To use it simply apply to your damp face and rinse. It works great as a gentle everyday cleanser in the shower or when you have lighter makeup on. It feels really gentle on my face and doesn’t leave behind any tightness or dryness after use. I like using it in the shower in the morning or on days I’m wearing little to no makeup! I’ve mentioned it a time or two but I will say that I like the idea of antioxidants in my skincare as of late as it seems to be very agreeable when it comes to erasing dullness and fatigue from my exhausted skin!
The Bad…
I wouldn’t attempt trying to take hardcore makeup off with this, such as stubborn eyeshadow or waterproof mascara, I rarely use a cleanser to do that job anyway but just a note it won’t work so fab!

Final Thoughts….
My skin isn’t sensitive so I’m never really sure how sensitive types will react to certain skincare but I will say this felt extra gentle on my skin. Its quite a nice little cleanser that won’t break your beauty bank plus its nice to use in the AM in the shower. I wouldn’t personally use it to remove a face full of makeup but on lighter makeup days or morning use, it works wonderfully well!
Likey lots!
