Heads up the new Essence G’day Sydney, Salut Paris, and Olá Rio (my inner Portuguese girl is screaming to reply Olá Menina!) Eyeshadow Palettes are now available on Ulta. These launched a few months ago on the Essence website but I’m like one of those old farts that rebels at having to make purchases on brand websites directly. I hate it. I like doing one and done shopping that’s why I enjoy places like Ulta, Sephora, and Nordstrom. I don’t want to just shop one brand one one site. I want to do a haul of several things and brands at once.
Shrug.
Anyway, although I wanted these it never happened due to the reason I mentioned above. But I’m happy to report all three are now on Ulta.com and you can snag them at a great deal if you don’t have your 20% Coupon anymore just use 796356 and each of these palettes will set ya back $6.50!
Salut Paris is a mix of cooler pinks and sultry purples, G’day Sydney is a pretty selection of golden hues mixed with aquatics, and Olá Rio contains warm naturals mixed with cranberries and purples!
Each palette contains nine shades each!

Essence Insta-Care Lipstick ($3.49) is a new buttery, hydrating lipstick that launched in six shades for Spring 2019. You can ALWAYS count on Essence to create some awesome lipstick that’ll cost you less than five bucks and that’s the case with these new Insta-Care Lipsticks.
I stupidly ordered one shade but I NEED ALL THE SHADES ASAP!

Essence Insta-Care Lipstick is 0.06 oz and comes housed in a swivel up slim line barrel. This is formulated with shea butter and I’d go so far as to call it a hybrid lip balm/lip treatment and lipstick all-in-one formula. It has the moisturizing elements of a lip balm or a lip treatment and the color of a lipstick which means you get the best of both worlds.
This formula is a soft, buttery texture that has a slightly slick texture and an easy glide on lips with a smooth finish on my dry lips. It’s very moisturizing and feels quite hydrating through the 3 and half hour wear time I got from it. The color I choose provided opaque coverage on a single application and didn’t feather or migrate through the wear. They do have some sort of fruity perfume flavor but I didn’t detect a fragrance.

Essence Sandy Sunrise Insta-Care Lipstick

Essence Insta-Care Lipstick Swatches (Sandy Sunrise)

The texture is just heavenly on my dry lips and the color is gorgeous. I picked up Sandy Sunrise which is a nude caramel tan that gave my lips a great nude look without making me look like a zombie.
All in all, Essence Insta-Care Lipstick is delightful and such a great beauty budget pick!
Muse Approved.
Don’t miss out! Grab a few or all of them at this price!

Essence Insta-Care Lipstick is new shea butter moisturizing lipstick that launched for Spring 2019 and is available in six shade selections. This is a slim lipstick that’s 0.06 oz in size and $3.49. I loved this formula! It’s moisturizing, pigmented, and provides nice, hydrating color to lips while look smooth and flawless through the wear!
Essence Insta-Care Lipstick is the perfect pick for anyone with drier lips that needs moisture as well as color!

Essence Metal Shock Eyeshadow ($4.99) is a fairly new cream eyeshadow that’s available in 7 shade selections. I picked up the shade 1 Second to Mars which is such a pretty golden peachy pink. I truly did buy it for the shade and not because it reminded me of Jared Leto.
Someone in one of my posts mentioned how much cheaper Metal Shock Eyeshadow was compared to Stila’s Glitter & Glow formula but I had my doubts this would be anything like it. Don’t get me wrong about 90% of the Essence Cosmetics line I’ve tried has all been great but I didn’t expect this formula to be loaded up with super shimmer the way Stila’s is.
I mean, really that would be great if they were right? I’d still totally buy any new shades that Stila does but it would be a heck of a nice thing if there really was a $4.99 dupe around.
Sadly, that is so not the case here. Essence Metal Shock Eyeshadow is actually disappointing but at this point, having tried only one shade, I’m blaming the color versus the formula.
This arrives in a 0.11 oz chubby little barrel with an attached sponge applicator for application. It’s pretty much the same packaging you get from Jordana’s Made to Last Liquid Eyeshadow which happen to be the same price with a far superior formula.

As I said I’m blaming the shade as the reviews on Ulta’s site are very, very good. This shade applied super sheer. I built up the shade with several layers but I could not get anything but a very, very, very subtle hint of shimmer on my lids but no color. The texture is creamy and easy to blend but it did crease within four hours of application. I had a line of shimmer right down my lid where it creased.
Meh…!
I’m tempted to try again with a deeper shade! Maybe I’ll have better success! Sadly, this shade just wasn’t doing it for me.
Have you tried Essence Metal Shock Eyeshadow?
Did you love it?

Someday my prince will come but for now Essence Kiss The Frog Lipstick ($3.49) will keep my lips soft, smooth, and tinted a delicious pink until he arrives. As we near the Spring season you might be searching for that cute, natural hint of tint on your lips and this little balm might just do the trick. It’s also a heck of a lot cheaper compared to luxury brands like Lipstick Prince Frog Prince.
This adorable little lip balm arrives in a plastic barrel with a little frog prince on the cover. It’ll set you back $3.49 and contains 0.169 oz of lip balm. It’s a formula that adapts to your pH to give your lips a custom shade of pink. But hey, let’s be honest those never really work and most everyone gets the same shade of pink which may different slightly depending how pigmented your lips are.

It starts out green and once applied I get a delightful bubble gum pink on my lips. The formula applies smoothly with a lightly balmy finish and no fragrance or flavor. It provides lightweight moisture and a pretty tint of pink that lasts well after the balminess wears away for about two hours.
I tend to chronically apply and reapply lip balm throughout the day for moisture but also because I dislike touching up my lipstick and lipgloss. I appreciate tinted balms since they add a nice color to my lips which look rather tired and dry as the day progresses. This is the perfect little treat for a little moisture and color when I have no time to apply an entire lip look!

Do like!
It’s adorable and it looks rather fab on me!

]]>
One of my greatest joys in life is laying back on my bed with a pair of Essence Cooling & Relaxing Eye Pads on my eyes while I listen to Billie Holiday. A girl gotta de-puff and relax sometimes right?
No but seriously, $3.99 is probably the best money you’ll ever spend on these cooling, reusable eye pads.
Here’s how they work!
Honestly, I’ve never been into all hocus pocus beauty tips for de-puffing bags under my eyes. Eye creams, drink more water, cold spoons, cucumbers, teabags, it all seems like a bunch of silliness to me. Eye bags are eye bags and the only thing that helps is good concealer as far as I’m concerned.
I’ve always had puffy eyes! Now that I’m getting older they seem so much worst than ever before. This translates as I’ll try ANYTHING to get rid of them. I can honestly say I’ve tried it all and the only thing you can rely on the conceal puffiness is a damn good concealer.
And maybe a set of Essence Cooling & Relaxing Eye Pads!

I admit these seem like a gimmick but they are darn cute! The pads are shaped like cucumber pads and contain a cooling gel. Simply pop them in the fridge (not the freezer) for an hour (or do what I do and leave them in the fridge until you are ready to use them) and than put them on your eyes for 10 to 15 minutes or longer should you like. What happens? Well, your puffiness probably won’t completely disappear. You didn’t expect miracles for four bucks did you? But your eyes will look refreshed, bright, happy, and you’ll notice some of your puffiness will decrease. These are great when you are prepping for a night out after a busy day and you need to get your eyes in order before doing your makeup. Or even as a nice way to de-stress after a long day. I’ve taken to using them nightly when I have the time and after applying my eye cream and other nightly skincare. I feel like they make my eyes look so much better come the AM.
So, yes, go get a set. Totally a great way to wake up those tired eyes!

]]>
The Essence Autumn is Here Fall 2017 Collection is popping up at drugstores and it has a re-promoted selection of Satin Touch Blush shades available. When I passed it by at Harmon’s last week I had to do a u-turn because I realize, I never tried Essence Satin Touch Blush before.
How is that possible when I love the brand so damn much!
So, after a quick look I decided I’d purchase the very pretty Fall-ish shade Satin Love which is a light dusky rose with browner undertones. I did have fear this shade would look muddy on me but I was determined that I’d get a pretty warm glow from it.

Here’s some thoughts about this budget friendly $2.99 blush.
Yay Essence for always coming to the rescue with super fab and affordable makeup. Satin Touch Blush is 0.17 oz in size and $2.99. It comes in a fairly basic, clear compact but it’s easy to store and easy to travel with so I’m cool with the no frills packaging. What I’m not cool with is the fact it’s only available in two shades because I’d totally buy other shades if they were available.

This is a firm to the touch blush which means it is not powdery yet color is still easy to pick up with a brush. It’s not chalky nor dry due to the dense texture and has a certain silky, lightweight texture that applies seamlessly on my skin without adhering to drier areas. I was surpriseD to hear it contained mica as for the most part it applies fairly matte on my skin. The pigmentation looks sheer when picking it up with my brush but it actually has a nice pop of color once applied. It also wears for a solid seven hours without fading.

Needless to say this is a win!
Love this and love the price point. I just wish they had it available in a larger shade range but none the less I’m sticking a Muse Approval on it.

]]>The post Essence Honey Care Moisturizing & Caring Hand Cream Review appeared first on Musings of a Muse.

Essence Honey Care Moisturizing & Caring Hand Cream ($3.99) is a new honey hand cream hanging out on my desk on the moment. You might recall my review of Essence Honey Care Smoothing Nail & Cuticle Scrub last month and I mentioned how I’d love to see more products scented like this. Much to my delight there’s a cheap as chips hand cream that’s a perfect companion to the scrub which I’m on my second tube of.
I realized that my hand cream addiction could be as potentially OCD as my lip balm one. I mean, I have them everywhere. On my desk, my vanity, my night table, hell, I even have them in my kitchen. I’m chronically applying hand cream. Oh well, I guess there are much worst things I could be addicted to right?
Now, I’m not much of a honey person. I don’t like the floral notes of honey, it’s not really my thing unless it’s in my cup of tea or on a slice of bread with butter. But I don’t really aim to smell like it because I don’t really like the way it smells. But Essence manages to capture a sweet honeycomb-like scent in this hand cream (as well as the scrub) that’s rather delightful. It’s one of the things I like most about this little hand cream.
Mind you, the scent is great but the formula is no slacker. This is a water-based formula that’s quite thick which contains coconut oil. It’s a fairly emollient texture which does leave hands slightly greasy after use but absorbs very, very quickly. It does an excellent job soothing my dry, ragged cuticles and makes my hands soft and smooth overnight. I wouldn’t recommend it to use at your desk as it does leave hands pretty tacky but overnight it does a great job softening up hands. I went through a tube rather quickly last month and I’m not third one.

Wait, what? Third one? And you’re thinking, “You sure do use a lot of hand cream!” Reason I’m on my third one is I started applying it all over my feet at night, slipping socks on, and waking up to super soft feet! This is such a great foot cream as well as a hand one! Seriously, try it on your feet, thank me later.
Do love it!

Essence Honey Care Smoothing Nail & Cuticle Scrub a budget friendly and cute as hell nail and cuticle scrub that’s launching with the Essence Cosmetics Fall 2017 Collection. This little guy is already available in Europe but we are just getting it here in the US and it will be exclusively available on the new Essence website.
Let’s take a look!

As you probably already know I chronically bite my nails and I’m also one for picking my cuticles until I gush blood everywhere. Yeah, so that’s not pretty. This little nail scrub is a great one for softening up those gross dry cuticles around your nail bed. It also softens your cuticles so you can easily push them back. A small travel-friendly 0.8 oz jar will set you back a mere $3.99 which makes this scrub budget friendly and affordable.
It smells amazing! It’s a gourmand honey scent that smells like honey cake to me. The scent isn’t strong but it is lasting and your hands and nails will smell like it well after you wash it away. The texture isn’t terribly grainy but it is grainy enough to soften up dry, dead skin. It almost looks like banana baby food in the jar and has the soft texture of it as well. A tiny bit goes a long way and it can be applied on either wet hands or dry ones. I typically use it on dry fingers and I wipe away with a wet cloth. If you want you can easily take a larger amount from the jar and use it all over your hands to smooth and soften them. I use it on both my cuticles and my hands. If they sold this as a body scrub I’d totally be on board buying it! It just smells so yummy and the formula is perfect! The consistency and formula is perfect as it isn’t too harsh or gritty nor oily that it leaves your hands greasy! It removes easily and leaves hands and cuticle beds soft but not oily and slippery.

There’s also a Honey Care Moisturizing & Caring Hand Cream they are launching in conjunction with this! I have hopes it smells just as good!
If you have dry hands or cuticle beds this little scrub will get them back in shape again on the cheap.
Love it!

Essence Prettifying Lip Oil ($2.99) is a new lip oil formula that give lips a shiny finish while nourishing and moisturizing them with Jojoba Oil! Lip oils have becoming increasing popular in the beauty world lately after the introduction of Milani Moisture Lock Oil Infused Lip Treatment. Since that release many others have followed such as the new Yes to Miracle Oil Primrose Lip Oil, and Kiko Heatwave Lip Oil just to name a few!
I’m prone to drier lips so, I’m totally drawn to lip oils!
Here’s a look at the Essence Prettifying Lip Oil!

I personally didn’t like Milani’s formula so, I’m happy there’s another super budget friendly lip oil formula available! Essence Prettifying Lip Oil is available in three shade selections with a formula enriched with Jojoba Oil. I got the shade I Care for You, Honey which is a bright yellow but applies clear on lips and has a very subtle sweet taste.

This has a plush, oily texture that adheres to lips in a smooth, even finish that gives them a pouty, glossy appearance. The formula isn’t sticky nor tacky and leave my lips pleasantly hydrated through the two hour wear! Reapplication is necessary because the shine and formula wears away at around the two hour mark but during that time this keeps lips pleasantly moist and glossy!

If you’re prone to drier lips this is a nice little lip oil to have handy! It’ll keep your lips lightly hydrated plus it provides plenty of shine! Did I mention the best part? It’s three bucks!
Score!
Essence Prettifying Lip Oil is available now at essencemakeup.com right now and will be available soon at Target.com and Ulta.com.
