This is the first I’ve ever heard the German Major Tom, and it just sounded weird to me. The English version of 99 Luftballons has never appealed to me, either.

I aspire to be able to sing 99 Luftballons in the original German at a karaoke night, someday. My pronunciation is good, but my enunciation is not up to proper speed yet. Working on it!
